Most arthroscopy patients go home the same day — that is the power of keyhole surgery.
Advanced arthroscopic training completed at accredited orthopaedic centres in Europe. Bringing precision joint surgery to Lagos.
Most arthroscopic procedures are day cases. No long hospital stays, no extended bed rest — you heal in the comfort of your own home.
A small camera inside your joint. No large incisions, less trauma to surrounding tissue, lower infection risk, and a visible scar of under 1cm.
Most joint conditions can be treated without large open surgery. Click any condition to watch a short explanation from our surgeon.
The most common serious knee injury. Arthroscopic reconstruction restores stability with precision and dramatically reduces recovery time versus open surgery.
Watch explanationCartilage damage from twisting injuries or degeneration. Keyhole meniscectomy or repair relieves locking, swelling, and pain without large incisions.
Watch explanationShoulder pain and weakness from torn tendons. Arthroscopic repair reattaches torn tissue, restoring strength and eliminating chronic pain.
Watch explanationRecurrent dislocations and labrum tears. A Bankart repair performed through the camera stabilises the shoulder permanently in most cases.
Watch explanationAbnormal bone shapes causing groin pain and reduced hip mobility. Hip arthroscopy corrects the impingement without open hip surgery.
Watch explanationJoint surface damage causing pain with activity. Chondroplasty and microfracture techniques encourage healing and restore smooth joint movement.
Watch explanationUnderstanding the recovery journey removes fear. Most arthroscopy patients are surprised by how quickly they return to normal life.
Every patient deserves to know exactly what is damaged, what can be repaired, and what recovery genuinely looks like — before any decision is made.
I tore my ACL playing football and thought my season was over for good. Six months after the arthroscopy, I was back on the pitch. The recovery plan was exactly as described.
My shoulder had been dislocating for two years. After the Bankart repair I went home the same evening and never had another dislocation. I wish I had done it sooner.
He explained my MRI clearly, told me what was damaged, and gave me options without pressure. The meniscus repair took less than an hour and I walked the next morning.
Patients often arrive with fear built on misinformation. These are the questions we hear most, answered plainly by Dr. Salami.
Book a ConsultationYes. Arthroscopy is one of the safest surgical interventions in orthopaedics. Because only small punctures are made, there is significantly less risk of infection, blood loss, and tissue trauma compared to open joint surgery. Complication rates are very low.
In most cases, no. The majority of arthroscopic procedures are performed as day cases under short general anaesthesia. You go home the same day with a companion. Overnight stays are occasionally needed for more complex reconstructions.
Many joint conditions respond well to physiotherapy, injections, or activity modification. Surgery is only recommended when conservative options have failed, when there is structural damage that won't heal on its own, or when function is severely affected. Dr. Salami will tell you honestly which category you fall into.
Bring any recent MRI, ultrasound, or X-ray scans, a summary of previous treatments, and a list of your symptoms. If your scans are older than 18 months, an updated MRI may be recommended before the consultation.
It depends on the procedure. Simple knee or shoulder arthroscopy: back to light work in 1–2 weeks. ACL reconstruction: return to sport in 6–9 months. Rotator cuff repair: 4–6 months. All timelines are significantly faster than open surgery.
Yes. Many patients come with injuries that happened months or even years ago. Chronic instability, long-standing tears, and post-traumatic stiffness can often still be addressed arthroscopically. Each case is reviewed individually.
